Sutter Home Summer Vino

When Verano hits and its time for a party, the best way to entertain your amigos, is with Sutter Home wine and yummy desserts. This time around I wanted to share a refreshing cocktail, made with red wine. This is my version of a Tinto de Verano, which is originally a Spanish drink, but has been adopted by many latin countries. This cocktail can be paired with any chocolate flavored dessert. For my party I did an assorted pick, like a flour-less chocolate cake, a raspberry chocolate cupcake, a chocolate tart ganache and a chocolate mousse trifle.  Which I wanted to share a quick recipe on how to make it below. Both of these recipes are easy to make, so you don’t have to spend so much time in the kitchen and just enjoy with your family and amigos.

For this cocktail recipe you can use any Sutter Home Family Vineyard red wine, I like to use the Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon, but you can also use Merlot, the Red blend and for a sweeter taste try it with Red Moscato.

Family owed vineyard Sutter Home brings award winning wines that are perfect to share good times with your friends and family, during this verano. As a plus they have a great variety of wines and they are affordable. They can be found in most retailers.  So go ahead get yours, and try out these recipes for your next #SummerVino fiesta and check out more #VeranoSutter ideas with Sutter Home, here!

Sutter Home Tinto de Verano Recipe

Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot | 1/4 oz. bourbon | Lemon-Lime soda

Take a wine glass and fill with ice, pour in half way with Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon wine. Add a 1/4 oz of bourbon, and fill the glass with the lemon-lime soda.  Add a lemon wheel for garnish and enjoy!

Chocolate Mousse Trifle Recipe

2 cups heavy whipping cream | 12 oz bittersweet 60% dark baking chocolate chips

Use chilled heavy whipping cream and add to a bowl and beat at medium speed, until stiff.  In a baño de maria style (a sauce pan with boiling water and a bowl set over it) melt 3/4 of the chocolate. Add the melted chocolate to the whipped cream and fold, it doesn’t need a lot of mixing, and refrigerate for 1 hour. Serve in tall shot glass layering with the reminder chocolate chips.
