As a fashion illustrator one of the most important things for me is backing up my files. I backup once and do a mirror of that, on another drive and triple save it also on an off-site cloud. I know… I know I’m a little paranoid of loosing any of my work, specially after hours of editing, a girl can never be prepared enough!
When WD approached me to try out the My Cloud EX2100 NAS (Network Attached Storage), I was thrilled. Now I can have all my files backed up automatically from one drive to another (no more connecting a million exterior hard drives). Also a BIG plus is that it is a network drive, meaning all of my files are accessible from anywhere with my laptop, tablet and phone, using the My Cloud app, and I can upload files from any device and it will be available in any of them.
One of the first things I noticed with the WD My Cloud EX2100 is the size, it sits perfectly on my desk and doesn’t occupy to much space. The setup is a no brainer you plug it into the power outlet and to your wireless router, then press the power button. The setup is just signing up, download the apps and you are all set.
While playing around with the system there are many advanced settings that you can adjust. I like that it has the feature of having your own FTP, that comes in handy when sharing files with clients and the printshop. Also that it works well with Apple’s Time Machine so all the backups are made automatically.
The WD My Cloud EX2100, is equipped with two hard drive bays that each one has a 2TB drive for a total of 4TB, but it is also available in larger capacities (here).
Thank you WD for providing with a My Cloud EX2100 to review and keep, and for sponsoring the giveaway of a WD My Cloud EX2 (valued $349.99) to one of my readers, scroll down to enter.
Disclaimer: Please note that the Giveaway is for a WD My Cloud EX2 4TB. Which is a different model to the one reviewed and shown on this post.
