Très Bien

You know, I can’t complain about my life these days. Sure I do work a lot, but everything is Très Bien (like this Monstera leaf swimsuit says). This past month, I started a new exercise routine, where I am going to the gym five days a week. I’ve been eating healthy and I have been making it a point to make time to just stop and relax. Having some time to enjoy life with family and friends, or sometimes even by myself.

Summer trends: The One Piece Swimsuit

One Piece SwimsuitLong live the One Piece swimsuit! This past week in Miami, was SWIM WEEK, and if you where following me on social, you got to see a sneak peek of the shows and all the madness. One of the major trends that I saw going on strong was the one piece bathing suit. For all of us that don’t have the perfect model  aka the Victoria’s Secret Angel body, we where happy with joy. As they can be so forgiving.

Feeling Resorty

Feeling Resorty
Feeling Resorty

Living in Miami is one of those things that I appreciate because I can wear a bikini and a coverup in the middle of winter. I got this really cute terry cloth beach cover up from Laura Manara, and accessorized it with a woven belt, and a bright graphic bikini top from Red Carter Swim. This type of cover-up can serve as a cute dress while walking around the pier or grabbing lunch in between hitting the pool or the beach, so it’s the perfect piece to be living that resort life.

Sunset, Palm trees and a little bit of courage

Palm tress and sunsets
Palm trees, sunsets and stripes

I think I’m an open minded girl. When I started this blog one of my no-no’s was to style and show off swimwear. But don’t get me wrong I’m very happy with my curvy body, but come on in reality every girl is somewhat self-conscious.  Aside from that I wanted to share as part of my little vacation to Las Terrenas in Dominican Republic, this super cute one-piece from ROXY Swimwear. I had seen it on last years Miami Swim Week’s private showing for ROXY, and I adored the sunset yellow, oranges and purple colors against silhouetted palm trees, this represents everything a tropical vacation is!

Off-shoulders and ladylike

An off-shoulder crochet romper from Miami local Neptunes Boutique
An off-shoulders crochet romper from Miami local store Neptunes Boutique in Soft Melon

When I think of an off-shoulders top, I think of a “campesina” (peasant) costume I wore as a child, today’s look is far from that. I wanted to keep this outfit simple and wore it with minimal jewelry. I love the soft pastel color of this romper, the crochet detail on the drop down sleeves and tassels completes this ladylike look.

This might be a trend that my not stay here for to long,  but it is perfect for summer. You can see more of my picks of this spring trend and an illustration on this post.

A lace swim cover-up

Lace swim coverup
A little lace never hurt anybody

Sometimes the only thing you need is that perfect cover-up. On my recent trip to the Caribbean I wore this lace cover-up from Solitaire Swimwear. It’s almost like a dress and along with my new favorite mini boater hat, oversized sunnies and some island local handmade beaded turquoise stone necklace, I looked swim perfect.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 – SUBOO

Asymmetrical cover-ups that could be worn not only to the pool

Thinking of swimwear and clean lines design can only mean SUBOO was out on the runway. The Australian brand composed pieces made with mixed fabrics, mesh and other knits creating unique forms that showed structure and sharp geometric forms.

The look in every model was pristine and spotless, either with a boxy, flowy or body hugging shape they strutted down the runway with an androgynous feel that was different of what other brands where presenting.

The line is so versatile you can definitely wear it beyond a sandy beach or pool side. The crop tops where my favorites and I can totally see myself wearing them along a leather pencil skirt and some towering pumps to go out for cocktails.

Crop tops galore
Geometric forms and mixing fabrics
Pattern prints with bold colors
Loved this bikini bottom the cut and the sequins
Retro feel shape and prints
Orange is the new black!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 – Dolores Cortes

Dolores Cortes models

With a little bit of 80’s punk and glam tropical florals the show for Dolores Cortes was a whimsical treat. My favorite pieces where the flowy cover-ups, colorful maxi skirts and maxi dresses, styled with gold spiky accessories as belts, bracelets and chain pieces to accent the big 80’s style hair that the models strut down the runway.

The Dolores Cortes show in my opinion showed well the punk + lady like trend will be a staple for swimwear in the next season. Florals and spikes are definitely my cup of tea, and you will see me around wearing similar stuff. I also have to say that I LOVED the hair so much that I just want to let my hair grow so I can mimic it, but will see about that.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 – Day 1 Recap: ROXY Pop Surf Kick-off Party

Day 1 Party

Last week was fashion swim week in Miami. This is the first year I attend the Mercedes-Benz tents as a fashion blogger. I had an incredible time with the designers and fellow blogger I got a chance to meet and spend some time with.

I attended the Kickoff party on day sponsored by ROXY. It was a fun party with drinks, pop music and models wearing the new Pop Surf collection, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the brand. The line features swimwear that doesn’t fall-off made in mind for women surfers. The signature fabric patterns depict a pretty sunset beach and black & white stripes, presented as bikinis & bodysuits.

Keep checking back on the blog for more coverage of MBFWSWIM 2014!
