BOXYCHARM X The Architect of Style

Runway Girl No.1
Runway Girl No.1 and BOXYCHARM September box

I have been working on a few commissioned fashion brands, which I can’t talk about until published, like this collaboration during Fashion month (week) with BOXYCHARM. I created three illustrations that debuted on their instagram account (@Boxycharm) one every friday of the month of September.

The theme was Runway Ready, showing my girls in the front row and living the lifestyle of the most coveted it girls in NYC.

The denim blazer for Fall

Transitioning to fall
A denim blazer and all white…

On several street style blogs, I have seen the denim blazer (or coat) as an upgraded and more formal looking version of the ever living distressed denim jacket. I love that this blazer version, can be worn to transition from summer to fall, specially in Miami  (where we don’t really have seasons) it can be worn without layering.  I wore it with an all white basics like I did with with skinnies and a silky tank, but it could also go well with a short dress under it.

I also accessorized it with a super cute Agate long necklace that local web shop Amoura Designs sent me this handcrafted necklaced made in Egypt.

See below for more pics and how to shop the look!

DONNA KARAN NEW YORK Spring 2014 runway show

Front Row Adriana Lima and Donna Karan
Front Row Adriana Lima and Donna Karan

Last week, I had the chance to attend an exclusive Saks Fifth Avenue and Ocean Drive magazine event featuring the DONNA KARAN NEW YORK Spring 2014 collection. I met with fellow blogger Susset Cabrera from Miami, Beats and Sazon and while sipping on some bubbly waited around the SLS South Beach pool where the models would strut by. We spotted celebrity model Adriana Lima (Victoria’s Secret) and I quickly went to her seat and ask to take her picture (see below for her sultry look).

From the show the dresses and skirts where flowy and ultra feminine with a deep simplicity that one gets to expect from any Donna Karan show. I specially loved the tribal prints and the combination of patterns and fabrics in some of the looks.

When the show ended we got to snap a picture with Donna Karan herself and you can see that on my Instagram.

From the Runway: ETRO Spring 2014

ETRO Spring 2014 Ready to Wear

A few days ago Saks Fifth Avenue invited me to the ETRO Spring 2014 Fashion Show held at the Perez Art Museum of Miami. The outside terrace of the museum by architect Herzog & De Meuron served as the perfect venue for the runway. Local chic and fab ladies ventured the chilly 55 degree night wearing fur coats and knee high boots (yes in Miami).

ETRO is famous for its printed graphic silky fabrics, and to upheld their name this collection was all that. Flowy skirts and loose halter top dresses went down the runway. Metallic fabrics and accent details like fringes, trims and belts completed the bohemian chic look, which I think is perfect for our weather.

Wildfox Cruise 2014 – Backstage & More

Rainbow colors at Wildfox Cruise 2014 Backstage

One of the most expected shows in my list for Fashion Swim week this year was Wildfox. I had the great opportunity to tag along fellow blogger Dee Trillo from The Haute Frugalista and go backstage prior to the show.

Backstage is a fast paced environment, you could see stylists curling and setting with hairspray the models hair, girls getting dress for their first outfit other people organizing in racks the changes for the other outfits complete with a picture of each model wearing her outfit. I also got to meet Leilani Shimoda the swim and intimates designer for Wildfox & make-up artist Sarah Lucero, Stila’s Pro Artist. As Dee interviewed them for a segment as they gave the models the finishing touches.

Right after we hurried downstairs to get our seats and waited for the show to start. Full of a retro, fun vibe, the models strutted rainbow patterned suits, the show continued to show other pieces like a two flamingo bathing suit and cover-up to which the crowed wowed as if the show was paying some homage to this South Beach town.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 – SUBOO

Asymmetrical cover-ups that could be worn not only to the pool

Thinking of swimwear and clean lines design can only mean SUBOO was out on the runway. The Australian brand composed pieces made with mixed fabrics, mesh and other knits creating unique forms that showed structure and sharp geometric forms.

The look in every model was pristine and spotless, either with a boxy, flowy or body hugging shape they strutted down the runway with an androgynous feel that was different of what other brands where presenting.

The line is so versatile you can definitely wear it beyond a sandy beach or pool side. The crop tops where my favorites and I can totally see myself wearing them along a leather pencil skirt and some towering pumps to go out for cocktails.

Crop tops galore
Geometric forms and mixing fabrics
Pattern prints with bold colors

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 – Dolores Cortes

Dolores Cortes models

With a little bit of 80’s punk and glam tropical florals the show for Dolores Cortes was a whimsical treat. My favorite pieces where the flowy cover-ups, colorful maxi skirts and maxi dresses, styled with gold spiky accessories as belts, bracelets and chain pieces to accent the big 80’s style hair that the models strut down the runway.

The Dolores Cortes show in my opinion showed well the punk + lady like trend will be a staple for swimwear in the next season. Florals and spikes are definitely my cup of tea, and you will see me around wearing similar stuff. I also have to say that I LOVED the hair so much that I just want to let my hair grow so I can mimic it, but will see about that.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2014 – Day 1 Recap: ROXY Pop Surf Kick-off Party

Day 1 Party

Last week was fashion swim week in Miami. This is the first year I attend the Mercedes-Benz tents as a fashion blogger. I had an incredible time with the designers and fellow blogger I got a chance to meet and spend some time with.

I attended the Kickoff party on day sponsored by ROXY. It was a fun party with drinks, pop music and models wearing the new Pop Surf collection, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the brand. The line features swimwear that doesn’t fall-off made in mind for women surfers. The signature fabric patterns depict a pretty sunset beach and black & white stripes, presented as bikinis & bodysuits.

Keep checking back on the blog for more coverage of MBFWSWIM 2014!

Step into Spring Fashion Show at the Shops at Pembroke Gardens

Stepping into Spring

A couple of weekends ago I had the chance to strut down the catwalk along with other seventeen fab Miami fashion bloggers for the Shops at Pembroke Gardens Step into Spring Fashion show, hosted by Miami fashion girl Annie Vasquez from The Fashion Poet.

Each blogger got to style their own outfit with one of the participating stores of the event. I had the chance to dress up and style with clothing from Ann Taylor.

I opted for an outfit that reflected a chic meets city street style.  I selected some cute navy shorts, a printed graphic button-down shirt and mint green belt.  And as you know I love stacking bracelets, so I accessorized my wrist with a couple of their double leaf sea foam bracelets and added some spiky golden bracelets to make to my own.
