Finally it is time for fall, and although in Miami is not cold yet. I have started dressing with fall colors. For today’s post, I am partnering up with J.Crew to show you a perfect J.Crew fall outfit. And also to invite you to a Styling Event this week, with yours truly, at J.Crew in Lincoln Road. This Saturday October 20th from 4-6pm. Where you can get styled by me, have some sips and shop the new Fall collection. So come by and say hi and let’s shop! See below for more info on the event.
This week is The Architect of Style, Sixth year anniversary, I can’t believe so much time has passed by. Although, I am a part-time blogger (that feels more like it is full-time). I have been very fortunate to collaborate and work drawing for many big fashion and lifestyle brands like Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Cynthia Rowley, Adidas, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Mazda… so many that it would be impossible to list them all.
I am the girliest of girls when it comes to cutesy and pink things. I just love everything pink, and when I saw that there was a pop-up Museum of Ice Cream in town, I knew I had to go. The Museum is an instagram (millennial pink) dream. The popularity of this venue made it be sold out every time I would check to buy tickets. But finally a few weeks before it’s final round my sister was able to find tickets to attend. Although it is a little pricey to go, it is all worth it when you dive into the sprinkle pool and start taking pictures of basically everything. Now don’t expect this to be an educational museum, it is more of an interactive venue that you go thru exhibits, more like a gallery I would say. While you eat ice cream as you move thru the exhibits.
Obviously I had to dress up with an outfit that match the museum so I opted to wear all pink! I got these bright pink paper bag pants and wore it with the Pink as my Vibes t-shirt from the line of my friend Annie The Alchemist.
I feel that in the past year, I have been dressing more casual. Using as an Everyday Look, basic pieces. It all comes about in my essence of simplifying my day to day. Typically I have really long work days. They start at the gym at 5am and then it goes into a packed day meetings and work. In the middle of all this, I go to fashion events or head on to draw fashion illustrations either for me of for a client.
It sounds like a lot, but this is what bloggers that have very demanding day jobs do. All because we really love sharing stories, and for me sharing my artwork and fashion ideas. So saving a few minutes, everyday. Specially while dressing up, comes as a precious earning. So I can expend less time thinking what to wear, and in that time do things that I love. It is just so much easier when outfits are put together using basic apparel. They look good and kinda pulled together.
If you are in Miami you know we just had a few days of “cold” weather. For us meaning we can start Transitioning Layering for Fall, and take out a few winter pieces to wear in south Florida. One of my favorite ways to do this, is by taking a dress I wore during the summer and wearing it together with a turtleneck underneath.
The weather here it is still not enough to wear boots, but I can totally see this look with knee high boots, or maybe ankle booties in a blush tone, just like these thick heel pumps. I wanted to break up the girly-ness of this dress by adding a fisherman cap and a dark purple lipstick. Because a little change is good.
I have an uncanny relationship with boots, I think I buy more boots that one can wear in Florida. I love, LOVE how they look. And it is probably the only reason, I would live in a cold weather area (so I could wear fall boots everyday). So at soon it is October and Fall starts. I start thinking on which ones to wear (and also shop). There are some really cool trends for this year. I am enamored with the thigh high boots! I already own a pair of black ones from Steve Madden. But I would love to get an additional set in maybe a jewel tone purple or burgundy color.
Finally fall is here!, I have to say this is my favorite season of the year. I love layering things and there is so much you can play with outfits. For this post I collaborated with Modcloth, to show a few of my favorite pieces of the Modcloth Fall collection. Typically, you see that I like traveling around these months to colder locations. And take advantage of the weather and wear pretty outfits with coats and boots etc. I adore how well put together and polished I look, just by throwing on a statement coat over jeans and a sweater.
I’ve found that this summer, I have been wearing a Summer Kimono non-stop. I wear it as a beach/pool cover up, over a one piece swimsuit, or add some skinny jeans or shorts to this exact same look, to go out to brunch or drinks. I particularly love the floral prints on a dark background, like the one I’m wearing on this post. Having so many colors, it matches with almost everything. And of course, I have been wearing it with the other two summer accessory trends that you will find every blogger wearing: a wooden (or rope) retro style bag with a funky shape (the Ark bag) and silky knot sandals, in this case in a yellow mustardy color.
You know, I can’t complain about my life these days. Sure I do work a lot, but everything is Très Bien (like this Monstera leaf swimsuit says). This past month, I started a new exercise routine, where I am going to the gym five days a week. I’ve been eating healthy and I have been making it a point to make time to just stop and relax. Having some time to enjoy life with family and friends, or sometimes even by myself.
Long live the One Piece swimsuit! This past week in Miami, was SWIM WEEK, and if you where following me on social, you got to see a sneak peek of the shows and all the madness. One of the major trends that I saw going on strong was the one piece bathing suit. For all of us that don’t have the perfect model aka the Victoria’s Secret Angel body, we where happy with joy. As they can be so forgiving.
