For this post, I am teaming up with Famous Footwear and their new campaign challenging everyone to #stepforward by championing their confidence to be their best self. I stepforward, everyday by pushing myself to try and do new things. In my artwork, you can see that I typically use paper as my canvas, it is what makes me feel more comfortable, but art can be expressed in different canvases. I just have to add some lines and brushstrokes on different mediums, like these Adidas Baseline Sneakers, and create an unique pair.
Every time I do an illustration, it makes me feel empowered. Although, my drawings are minimalist and look like they are done fairly quick, there is plenty of thought that goes into each line I draw. I do quick sketches and bounce back many ideas on how I want something to look. I think of colors and then it goes into the final art, when it is all set and done, the best feeling is to see the end product, feel happy about it and say, “I did that”.
If anyone would have told me a few years ago that sharing my drawings on my blog or on social media, would’ve gotten me to the point that I am today. I wouldn’t have believe them. Setting up a side gig, getting some really cool fashion clients, live drawing at events with brands that I could have never dreamed of, it all seems a little nerve wrecking. And so everyday, I tell myself that I am capable of doing this, hard work pays off. I believe in my artwork and how far it can take me. I still have a lot to do, but I am certain that I will continue to #stepforward.
See a little of the creative process to do these painted shoes on the video below, and let me know what you think on the comments section.
