Travel Diary: Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Architect of Style takes Buenos Aires
The Architect of Style takes Buenos Aires

I think I was born with a suitcase on my hands. As soon as I have the chance to get on a plane and fly away to any location, I’m ready to go. I have to say, I love to travel.

I have been to Europe and many places in the United States but I have never visited South America. This is the first time I got to go south, and had the great opportunity to visit the metropolitan city of Buenos Aires, in Argentina.

I was enamored with the architecture of the city as it is a patchwork of an array of European styles, from neoclassical to baroque, to more contemporary buildings all in the same urban fabric one next to each other.

For most of our trip the weather was cloudy and mildly cold for me (meaning 70 F degrees), probably something not that typical at this time of the year as it is summer in Buenos Aires. I packed a semi-summer wardrobe with light clothes and shorts. As for shoes I spent most of my trip wearing a pair of MIA Shoes Daydreamer sneakers. They were so comfy and where perfect for all the walking around we did. Also they saved my toes from the rain. I loved that they look stylish with anything skinny jeans or shorts, and they are not your traditional travelers white sneakers.

I did the touristy thing and roamed around the city. One of my favorite stops was the Teatro Colon, this is one the best Opera houses in the world, its architecture is magnificent and trust me doing the inside tour is a good idea. For shopping visit the neighborhood of Palermo where there are many local designer stores and if you are like me and love leather bags & shoes stop by PRUNE (you’ll thank me).

Overall I had a great time learning about this city, their people, food and lifestyle. So much that I have adopted drinking sparkling water with my morning coffee and having a little dulce de leche with a piece of toast.

So lucky! I’d love to go to Argentina. My mom has been and said it was amazing. Looks like you had a great time. Those cat faces are so damn cute.
